The CSE Department of CUHK is the first Computer Science department in Hong Kong. The Department launched the BSc. in Computer Science in 1978. The Postgraduate Division was established in 1982. Research areas include AI, computational finance, data mining, cloud & network computing, database & multimedia systems, computer vision, graphics, virtual reality, visualization, distributed systems, bioinformatics, computer & network security, embedded systems, reconfigurable computing, VLSI & digital systems design automation, software engineering, theoretical computer science.
